Kulik Lodge supplies all the tackle (including waders and boots) that their guests will need during their trip with the except of terminal tackle (flies, tippit and weights all of which can be purchased in the lodge store). Guests may choose between fishing their home river or flying out to various locations within a 100 mile radius of the lodge. Guides accompany guests to all destinations and assist them as needed.
It is hard to imagine a more favorable rainbow trout river anywhere than the Kulik River. Since it is located right on site, Kulik Lodge guests always have the first choice of all the best water on the river before other guests can fly in. Its gin clear water, fine gravel bottom and plentiful food supply provide an ideal habitat for the large population of native rainbow trout which reside here. Average trout here probably range between 17 and 22 inches. Many much larger ones are caught each year.
Including fly outs in your stay will provide the means to fish other hot spots. Depending on the date, Kulik guests seeking rainbows regularly fish the Brooks, American, Nonvianuk Kvichak and Battle Rivers. Add Idavain, Funnel and Moraine Creeks for spectacular rainbow fishing. In each of these spots the lodge has riverboats cached to allow access to fishing. Flyout Trips for Grayling, Char, King, Chum and Silver Salmon take you to places such as Ugashik Narrows, Colville Lake, Nushagak and Alagnak Rivers, and the Kamishak River.
In terms of tackle, the lodges recommends 6 to 8 wt. flyrods for most species. Usually a weight forward floating and intermediate sink tip will cover most situations.
